CS Industries LLC in Palmer, Massachusetts, is a custom manufacturing shop that handles jobs ranging from intricate laser-engraved metals to welding and cutting projects. The metal shop cuts gaskets, automotive grills for classic cars, anodized aluminum and stainless-steel nameplates, HVAC equipment and ductwork and brackets, and many other custom items.

“We wanted to continue to evolve, so that meant adding to our laser welding and engraving/cutting capabilities to include fiber laser cutting to meet growing demand,” says Bettina Snyder owner of CS Industries along with her business partner and husband Don Snyder.

While the partners did not require a massive laser cutter, they did need something more powerful than a lot of the smaller machines available in the market. They then came across Assembly Automation Alternatives which offered medium-sized laser cutters and machines equipped with the features and capabilities that the competition did not provide. Plus, it was priced affordably.

CS Industries chose Automation Alternatives’ RubyLaser machine which can handle jobs requiring intricate geometries. In addition, the cutting nozzle is automatic with an anti-crash sensor that continually focuses and follows the height of the metal. “We can adjust our laser to reach tight tolerances and adjust it as needed depending on the job,” Snyder says.

With CS Industries’ customers in mind, the Assembly Automation Alternatives team designed a custom turnkey package that includes the laser and all its ancillaries, delivery to the customer’s door, installation assistance, on-site training and ongoing technical support.

Says Bettina Snyder of the support received from Assembly Automation Alternatives, “When I first started using the fiber laser, I didn’t know much about the machine. After speaking to [IT support at] Automation Alternatives, I felt like a whiz because they take the time to answer any questions, no matter how basic. Support from Mehdi’s team at Automation Alternatives helps us understand the machines we’re using while providing the reliable performance our customers expect.”
